On Saturday, September 5, 2026, thousands gathered at the Salt Lake City Public Library for the Afro Utah Festival — a free, all-ages celebration of Afro heritage presented by the GK Folks Foundation. The day brought together Afro cuisines, live music and dance, arts and crafts, fashion showcases, family activities, and community workshops, with more than 100 vendors and performers representing over 30 communities. The celebration opened the evening before with the Afro Utah Awards at The Little America Hotel, honoring the changemakers, innovators, and unsung heroes who define Afro excellence in Utah.
